My name is Gold and I live at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I can’t remember anymore if this was my choice or I had to, or they put me here coercively. Let me rephrase that. I can’t remember if this was my parents’ idea, or if this was the only option I had at the time or I’m here because my nightmares put me in the Canyon. But I like it here, it’s silent and peaceful. I see tourists up there, I sense them and I perceive their photographs.

I was planning to be a happy child at school, then they started bullying me, throwing my coins into the grid’s sewer, and I didn’t have that much money.

I still meet myself, as a young boy, and one of those guys and I try to protect me, but my young boy grabs my arm and twisted it behind my back, and my coins still fall down the sewer, all of them. My hands are constantly empty.

When I see that happening, I also see strange sculptures around, not sure if made by humans or by an alien hand. I can’t understand the link. Is it me the alien down here?

But the Canyon protects me, probably. A few people know I’m here, and one is Phat. I know he thinks of me, not sure if he feels responsible for anything. It was easy for him, after all. But I can’t blame anyone. I like Phat learnt to play guitar so well.
